Meet Liz and Erwin.

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

You GUYS! I am SO behind on blogging about sessions! I feel awful about it. Here is a LONG overdue post introducing you to…. Liz and Erwin!

2010 (32 of 52)

Liz and Erwin met ten years ago at a job interview for jobs at, appropriately enough, Funland. Something as innocent as a job interview would leave to a life-long bond for these two.

I met Liz in junior high and we re-connected through… wait for it…. FACEBOOK! I know, you are totally surprised, right?

I am so excited to be shooting their wedding in September. These two have been together for ten years and you can see how at ease they are with each other and how in love they are.

In a world where relationships seldom last longer than five years, it’s an honor to be chosen to be present on a day where a couple who has already been committed for so long, seals their commitment for a lifetime.

Thanks, Liz & Erwin! Can’t wait for your wedding!

Meet Max.

Friday, March 12th, 2010

When you shoot a two year old (with a CAMERA), this is what you are most likely to get a lot of pictures of.

His back. As he runs away from you.

This is Max. We had a session at the Getty Center a few weeks ago.

You have never really experienced the Getty until you’ve let a 2 year old run wild around the place. I guarantee you that you have never noticed how many exit signs the place has, how many drains there are and how many planes fly overhead….

We had a great, if completely exhausting, time!

Meet Jaci and Matt.

It’s funny how often the most rushed and unplanned shots become my favorite from any given session. This picture is from Jaci and Matt’s engagement session. We shot at UCLA the same weekend that the Festival of Books was going on and if you have ever been to that you know how difficult it is to find a quiet empty space! In this picture taken in the lobby of Royce Hall you would never guess that just outside were thousands of people and hundreds of vendor booths. We were cutting through the lobby in between panels and as I held the door open to go outside I noticed the beautiful bright light that filled the lobby. I asked them to quickly pose and hold it (as probably eight or nine people wandered through my shot) and we finally got the timing just right and I snapped this.

Jaci and Matt got married six days after this was shot and you can see many pictures from their wedding on my site. They are a sweet and loving couple and both of them had a great sense of humor. I feel very lucky to have met them and been apart of their very special week.

Meet Simone.

Simone

I recently shot some portraits for harpist Simone Salmon. We shot in and around UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music. When I look back on it, I guess this was the closest I’ve ever been to a real harp. Simone told us that she started playing when she was very young and the thought of a tiny girl hauling around a giant harp cracked me up. She played a little while I shot, which was lovely. Built in background music! I should shoot musicians more often! Overall, a very cool session.

If you need a harpist for an even, definitely check her out. She is immensely talented. You can view her website here:
