Meet Liz and Erwin.

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

You GUYS! I am SO behind on blogging about sessions! I feel awful about it. Here is a LONG overdue post introducing you to…. Liz and Erwin!

2010 (32 of 52)

Liz and Erwin met ten years ago at a job interview for jobs at, appropriately enough, Funland. Something as innocent as a job interview would leave to a life-long bond for these two.

2010 (11 of 52)

I met Liz in junior high and we re-connected through… wait for it…. FACEBOOK! I know, you are totally surprised, right?

2010 (42 of 52)

I am so excited to be shooting their wedding in September. These two have been together for ten years and you can see how at ease they are with each other and how in love they are.

2010 (52 of 52)

In a world where relationships seldom last longer than five years, it’s an honor to be chosen to be present on a day where a couple who has already been committed for so long, seals their commitment for a lifetime.

Thanks, Liz & Erwin! Can’t wait for your wedding!

Meet Edith.

2010 (12 of 60)

A few weeks ago I headed off to Silver Lake to take one year portraits for the lovely Miss Edith Louise.

2010 (11 of 24)

Edith is an adorable handful. One year old’s seldom hold still long enough to have their picture taken and this tiny bundle of energy was no exception. I had a great time following her around her parent’s backyard, picking flowers, finding Easter eggs and picking lemons off their lovely lemon tree. Here is my favorite shot of Edith and her awesome mommy, Shanna.

2010 (21 of 24)

Here’s something new I am experimenting with! Storyboards!

11x14a

Each session now gets a few storyboards to download and keep! I love them, although, I will admit I am still figuring out how best to use them.

Thank you Shanna and thank you Edith! I had a great time with you!

Meet Chloe.

Chloe (5 of 45)

Chloe showed up on my doorstep yesterday ready to rock in a pair of her mom’s heels. Ariela (Chloe’s mom) had brought basically half of Chloe’s closet with her and we had tons of super cute outfits to choose from.

Chloe (15 of 45)

I’ll be honest: boys are tons of fun, but HOLY CRAP girls are more fun to dress! Virtually everything was bright and covered in glitter. Ariela kept joking that when they left my couch would be covered in a layer of glitter (a step up from the layer of cat hair that covers it currently, I assure you).

Chloe (29 of 45)

Chloe is totally supermodel material. She is just gorgeous and so photogenic. Have I ever told you about how much I love redheads?

Chloe (41 of 45)

LOVE. REDHEADS. I have always told anyone who will listen that I am determined to make my children redheads by sheer force of will. On top of that, Chloe’s hair is naturally curly (My hair has been painfully straight my whole life. Tried to perm it when I was a kid and it fell out in about three hours. Yeah. That straight). Is it fair to be jealous of an 8 year old’s hair?

Chloe (9 of 45)

I had a great time working with Chloe. She was so patient with me and up for anything. When I prodded her to change her outfit “just one more time!” for the third time, she happily said sure and bounced off. I wish all my clients were so agreeable!

Happy birthday (on Monday), Chloe!

Meet Leticia and Michael.

Williams (9 of 29)

Last month I shot Leticia and Michael’s lovely backyard ceremony in Corona, CA.

Williams (32 of 47)

They planned it (with tons of help from Leticia’s awesome sisters) in two weeks. Can you believe that?! TWO. WEEKS.

Williams (14 of 26)

Honestly, I’ve seen weddings with a year of planning go off less smoothly. :) Leticia and Michael had tons of family and friends there to support them and you could feel how loved they all were.

Congratulations Leticia and Michael!

Work, work, work!

Monday, September 28th, 2009

I have been extraordinarily busy lately! Weekend have been filled with weddings (look for some pictures to pop up soon!) and editing, editing, editing. I haven’t even had time to edit the rest of the pictures from my New England vacation.

In the meantime, here are a few pictures to tide you over.

These are from the Antelope Valley Fair where yours truly won Third Place in a photography competition!

As you can tell I have been experimenting with cross-color processing. I think it gives things a little pop and, more importantly, it’s FUN!

Okay, in this case it may have made things look a little creepy. But, let’s face it: county fairs are sometimes creepy.

Heck yeah, it is!

Possibly my favorite, because, seriously? Can you argue with that?

Several weeks ago I shot an amazing wedding in Yucaipa. I first met Matt and Lana last year. They were an wonderfully sweet couple with a romantic story that involves planes, foreign countries and Matt proposing every day for a month. :)

When Matt told me they were getting married at a castle (!) I was so excited to be lucky enough to be a part of their amazing wedding.

Allison (13 of 38)

The grounds were just gorgeous and the weather cooled down enough in time for the ceremony for it to be pleasant.

Congratulations, Matt and Lana!

Meet Andi.

Andi (7 of 16)

Andi is the daughter of Rachel and Andrew. I met Rachel in the seventh grade. At the end of the year her family moved away (to the magical land of Arcadia… the name of which I have never forgotten, for some strange reason).

Andi (1 of 16)

We got back in touch late last year through Facebook and when her daughter was born in January I started taking pictures of, not just Andi, but her two adorable older brothers Jackson and Ryan, too.

Andi (2 of 16)

This was a special session just for Andi, though. She is absolutely tiny and adorable. She has this HUGE grin that makes me laugh every time. Also? Those cornflower blue eyes are absolutely unreal. I promise you I haven’t done any weird Photoshop magic here. That’s just what color her eyes are.

Andi (13 of 16)

Thanks to Rachel for constantly letting me borrow her beautiful kids!

Meet Charlotte.

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Charlotte (16 of 24)

This is Charlotte and she is five months old. Her mother and I have known each other since I was 15 and she was 13 and we were both in college (true story!).

Charlotte (30 of 30)

I’ve been Megan’s Official Photographer since we were kids and it’s so much fun to now be taking pictures of Charlotte.

Charlotte (21 of 30)

About three months ago we tried to take some pictures of Charlotte and she screamed the whole time. So, of course, I took a picture of her crying her poor brains out so that when she is 16 we can show it to her and say “SEE HOW AWFUL YOU WERE?”

Charlotte (14 of 24)

But you were pretty, so we let it slide.

Meet Jaci and Matt.

JM (30 of 56)

It’s funny how often the most rushed and unplanned shots become my favorite from any given session. This picture is from Jaci and Matt’s engagement session. We shot at UCLA the same weekend that the Festival of Books was going on and if you have ever been to that you know how difficult it is to find a quiet empty space! In this picture taken in the lobby of Royce Hall you would never guess that just outside were thousands of people and hundreds of vendor booths. We were cutting through the lobby in between panels and as I held the door open to go outside I noticed the beautiful bright light that filled the lobby. I asked them to quickly pose and hold it (as probably eight or nine people wandered through my shot) and we finally got the timing just right and I snapped this.

JM (50 of 56)

Jaci and Matt got married six days after this was shot and you can see many pictures from their wedding on my site. They are a sweet and loving couple and both of them had a great sense of humor. I feel very lucky to have met them and been apart of their very special week.

Meet Lexi.

Lexi (55 of 60)

The day after Lexi’s baptism we snapped some pictures of her on the floor of the vacation house. She is just about the sweetest baby ever and, though you can’t see it in this picture, she has the most adorable red hair. I love redheaded babies! Anyway, getting her to smile is pretty easy… if you smile at her you can pretty much guarantee she will grin right back. So cute!
