Meet Liz and Erwin.

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

You GUYS! I am SO behind on blogging about sessions! I feel awful about it. Here is a LONG overdue post introducing you to…. Liz and Erwin!

2010 (32 of 52)

Liz and Erwin met ten years ago at a job interview for jobs at, appropriately enough, Funland. Something as innocent as a job interview would leave to a life-long bond for these two.

2010 (11 of 52)

I met Liz in junior high and we re-connected through… wait for it…. FACEBOOK! I know, you are totally surprised, right?

2010 (42 of 52)

I am so excited to be shooting their wedding in September. These two have been together for ten years and you can see how at ease they are with each other and how in love they are.

2010 (52 of 52)

In a world where relationships seldom last longer than five years, it’s an honor to be chosen to be present on a day where a couple who has already been committed for so long, seals their commitment for a lifetime.

Thanks, Liz & Erwin! Can’t wait for your wedding!

Meet Max.

Friday, March 12th, 2010

When you shoot a two year old (with a CAMERA), this is what you are most likely to get a lot of pictures of.

Max (56 of 63)

His back. As he runs away from you.

Max (63 of 63)

This is Max. We had a session at the Getty Center a few weeks ago.

Max (30 of 63)

You have never really experienced the Getty until you’ve let a 2 year old run wild around the place. I guarantee you that you have never noticed how many exit signs the place has, how many drains there are and how many planes fly overhead….

Max (25 of 63)

We had a great, if completely exhausting, time!

Meet Whitton.

32:365

I met Whitton three summers ago when I took a trip to Israel. I remember the first moment I saw her she was quoting MacBeth in the airport.

whitton (5 of 53)

We were two of only a handful of SoCal-ers and we were both theatre geeks, so we chatted over that.

whitton (12 of 53)

We exchanged numbers at the end of the trip and, holy crap, am I ever glad we did because how stunning is she?!

Whitton is an actress in L.A. and booked a McDonald’s commercial this week! Look for her gorgeous face on a TV near you!

Thanks to Whitton for coming out to play with me!

Meet Joan.

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

So, I have been ridiculously busy the last month. Between editing two weddings and the holidays and the passing away of my grandmother, I have neglected you, dear blog. But I am back! And ready to share with you my lovely session with Joan.

Joan (22 of 22)

I met Joan in college in San Diego. She was in a class I took where the projects consisted mostly of coloring. What I remember most about that first class with her was that she had the prettiest, shiniest hair I had ever seen.

Joan (4 of 22)

Joan happened to be in LA for the holidays and before she returned to San Diego (where she is lucky enough to still live! I’m so jealous.), I suggested we do a photo session.

Joan (15 of 22)

I am SO happy she took me up on it, because these photos came out just lovely. The light kills me! KILLS. ME.

Joan (19 of 20)

Joan’s awesome tattoo that she got on her recent trip to China. It reads “For art we live”.

Joan (8 of 16)

Thanks for coming up Joan. You make a lovely model! Next time, bring the boyfriend. :)

Meet Chloe.

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

Chloe (5 of 45)

Chloe showed up on my doorstep yesterday ready to rock in a pair of her mom’s heels. Ariela (Chloe’s mom) had brought basically half of Chloe’s closet with her and we had tons of super cute outfits to choose from.

Chloe (15 of 45)

I’ll be honest: boys are tons of fun, but HOLY CRAP girls are more fun to dress! Virtually everything was bright and covered in glitter. Ariela kept joking that when they left my couch would be covered in a layer of glitter (a step up from the layer of cat hair that covers it currently, I assure you).

Chloe (29 of 45)

Chloe is totally supermodel material. She is just gorgeous and so photogenic. Have I ever told you about how much I love redheads?

Chloe (41 of 45)

LOVE. REDHEADS. I have always told anyone who will listen that I am determined to make my children redheads by sheer force of will. On top of that, Chloe’s hair is naturally curly (My hair has been painfully straight my whole life. Tried to perm it when I was a kid and it fell out in about three hours. Yeah. That straight). Is it fair to be jealous of an 8 year old’s hair?

Chloe (9 of 45)

I had a great time working with Chloe. She was so patient with me and up for anything. When I prodded her to change her outfit “just one more time!” for the third time, she happily said sure and bounced off. I wish all my clients were so agreeable!

Happy birthday (on Monday), Chloe!

Jessica’s Quinceanera

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Bencomo (20 of 23)

I think this is quite possibly my favorite picture ever. Last month Jamie and I headed to Downtown LA to do LBW’s first ever quinceanera.

bencomo (14 of 17)

You have no idea how excited I was to get to shoot in downtown LA. When you live in the Los Angeles area your whole life you eventually take it for granted. But the city is so beautiful. If you’ve never been to the Walt Disney Concert Hall, GET DOWN THERE IMMEDIATELY.

bencomo (8 of 17)

The building is just stunning and I know exactly nothing about architecture. There are all these nooks and crannies all around the building. It’s like it Frank Gehry designed this place for photographers. You are my hero, Frank Gehry. Please marry me. But marry me, like, 40 years ago, because you are 80 now and that would be creepy. Of course, I wasn’t born 40 years ago, so it’s possible this relationship will not work out….

bencomo (11 of 17)

*Ahem* Anyway.

It was just my luck that Jessica turned out to be a fantastic model! She’s beautiful and we had so much fun with her and her court. Shooting with a bunch of teenagers, while challenging, is totally fun.

bencomo (11 of 14)

I am really hoping that this was just the first of MANY quinceaneras and just the first of MANY shoots downtown! Seriously, if you call me anytime in the next six months, I’ll probably suggest we shoot downtown. :)

Meet the Rose Family.

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Rose (2 of 16)

This is Autumn, Mike and baby Sienna. I cannot even begin to explain how excited I am about their portraits. Autumn is another person I went to junior high with and reconnected with through Facebook.

Rose (6 of 16)

When Sienna was born six months ago I was dying to get the chance to shoot with them. I finally got the chance this past weekend. Me and Jamie drove to Long Beach to meet up with them.

Rose (9 of 16)

Now, despite having grown up in Southern California and having lived here more or less all of my life, I am totally unfamiliar with Long Beach. Weird, right? My friend Lori gave me some pointers and we ended up at Shoreline Village.

Rose (12 of 16)

The bright colors are EXACTLY what I was looking for and they make these holiday portraits really pop. LOVE. IT. It doesn’t hurt that the Roses are basically supermodels. :) We had so much fun hanging out with them and Sienna was so patient and sweet given the fact that she is teething and I kept putting my giant camera in her tiny face. Mike and Autumn are probably the two nicest people I have ever met (which is something I always remembered about Autumn from junior high!).

Rose (2 of 21)

Hope these came out the way you wanted Mike and Autumn! I had the best time taking them.

Meet Atticus.

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

AL (17 of 25)

This is Atticus.

AL (2 of 25)

Atticus and his mommy Sarah were in town from Maine for a few days and I conned her into letting me get some portraits of the two of them. ;-)

AL (22 of 25)

The last time I saw Sarah was roughly 15 years ago in junior high. Yes, this is another reconnect that comes courtesy of Facebook! Atticus is just about the most serious baby I have ever met and coaxing even the tiniest smile out of him is so rewarding.

AL (6 of 25)

I had an awesome time catching up with Sarah while playing with this patient little guy. I’m hoping to meet his big sister Summer in January!

Alexis Ann's Baptism.

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

Lexi (43 of 60)

We just got back from a week vacation in New England. Along the way, I was fortunate enough to shoot Alexis Ann’s baptism on Block Island in Rhode Island. This is my favorite shot of the bunch. Alexis is Dana and Rob’s first child and she is just about the prettiest baby I’ve ever seen. Their friends and family took the ferry out to the island for the day to show their support. It was a lovely little service in the same church that Dana and Rob married in.

Lexi (4 of 60)

This was also the first time Jamie and I met baby Alexis, who is Jamie’s niece.
